William S. Burroughs Signed Bullet Hole T-Shirt: "Will He Have 3-D in Time?" (Exotica Press, Limited Edition)
This shirt is one of three designs from Lawrence, Kansas design and marketing house, Exotica. The image is of the author, done in a 90s psychedelic style. Burroughs also provided the mysterious quote “Will he have 3-D in time?” that features on the shirt. The bullet holes on this particular shirt (shot by Burroughs) are small, adding a slight distressing effect. And Burroughs has signed it just below the graphic.
From a 1997 article in Wired Magazine, titled Shootin’ the Shirt with William
(https://www.wired.com/1997/03/shootin-the-shirt-with-william/): “Lawrence, Kansas-based design and marketing house Exotica recently struck a deal with friend and neighbor William S. Burroughs, everyone's favorite postmodern junkie. Burroughs not only offers his visage and a quote for three T-shirt styles, he personally takes the shirts to the range, puts bullets through 'em, then autographs the smoldering cotton with a felt-tip pen.”
Depending on the day, Burroughs would vary the way he signed the shirts
(according to the person we acquired the shirt from, as well as another article http://www.lawrence.com/news/2007/jul/30/inner_circle/ ). We have been told by the original owner of the shirt (who received it directly from Exotica) that in this case, the shirt was shot with a shotgun. Exotica also informed him that Burroughs then dipped a .38 slug in laundry ink and signed the shirt.
